With the wonderful support and warm welcome we have received from the Huntington community, we know how important it is to help support those around you. Colony Workplaces is a new business that is in their early growth stage, we are anxious to support the Huntington Community. Here are a couple things Colony Cares is doing to help those around us.
Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society
After years of neglect, the US Coast Guard had announced plans for its demolition due to concern for the safety of the servicing personnel for the lighthouse. The HLPS was Founded in 1985 with the intent to preserve the the Huntington Harbor Lighthouse. Volunteers rallied to make sure that this staple in our harbor was kept in place. Today, we are happy to be a part of this wonderful effort. The restoration and maintenance of the lighthouse is an ongoing effort. They need as much help as possible to continue maintaining all of the work that has been done so far. Colony Workplaces is excited to be able to donate a portion of our revenue for each new member that signs up with us. And we will be asking our members to be a part of our contribution. HUFSD - Classroom Support
In a recent NY Times article, it was reported that the average teacher in the United States spends $479 on school supplies for their classroom, while 7% spend over $1,000. It boggles our minds when we hear just how much money our teachers take out of their own pockets, their own salaries, to pay for needed supplies for their students and classrooms. We are going to start small with the intent to continue big by donating some form of school supply with each new member we sign up. Although this is our cause, we will encourage our new members to participate in our efforts to help the teachers help their students. We know that a simple thing like a box of crayons, a ream of paper, or some art supplies can make all the difference in a child's approach to how hard they work. If you are not a member of Colony Workplaces, but would like to offer some assistance with our school supply effort, contact us now.
